A Year of Growth in Clay
2024 marked a period of rapid growth in my ceramic practice. I began working more consistently at my local studio in Rotterdam, and with each pot, I could see how the rhythm of regular making was sharpening my skills. Not every piece made it through the process—there were failures, collapsed forms, and glazes that didn’t land—but these missteps became part of the learning curve.
Two key shifts defined this period: consistency and scale. I began exploring new forms while also trying to reproduce certain shapes repeatedly—learning how to refine them with intention and care. This effort toward consistency was not about perfection, but about developing a visual and tactile language of my own.
My thinking during this time was deeply influenced by the work of Inge de Wet and Florian Gadsby—both of whom have cultivated practices grounded in repetition, refinement, and a strong personal style. Their dedication helped shape how I approached form, function, and identity in my own work.
